Strong Class

The children have all settled well into their new class, making many friends and enjoying the experience of 'life in the mobile'!

We began the year by basing our work around a well known story: The Snail and the Whale by Julia Donaldson. This led to much discussion and fun as we explored aspects of the story through rhyme, sea shanties and drama. It also supported geographical and scientific work.

As you may have noticed from the children's enthusiasm the focus is now on the Romans! They are becoming adept at researching from books and the internet and are developing note taking skills. They have been learning to use these notes and the wealth of facts they have absorbed to create well organised information texts. But as one child commented, “ I learnt more from the Roman soldier than from all the books!” The visit from our Roman soldier gave the children an exciting day and a chance to learn so much in an active way.

In outside P.E we have been playing Hockey and Hockey training. (It's really fun)
