Our School

Our 'pupils believe learning is fun' is a phrase from Ofsted’s findings in 2009. They also said that 'This is a good school which is moving forward strongly.  Pupil's spiritual, moral social and cultural development is outstanding.  The school's Christian ethos underpins effective pastoral care for all pupils.

We are proud of our children and our committed staff provide them with a very good education, through creative and inspirational teaching.  Our school has been innovative in developing its ‘Creative Tuesday Mornings’ – a true reflection of the broad and balanced curriculum we offer.  We respect each individual and believe that the voice of the child should be listened to and their input valued.  Our School Council plays an active role in developing the school, they believe:-

“St Gilbert’s is an inspiring school in which the children feel at home.”

“Every child counts.”

“We love to help others who aren’t as fortunate as us, through things like ‘Love in a Box’ and Mary’s Meals.

“There is always someone to care for you.”

“This school will bounce you into the middle of learning happiness.”

“We have much to achieve here and we love to celebrate our achievements.”

Our parents value to school:-

“What a wonderful, thought provoking and sensitive Remembrance Service today.  The children were so quiet and respectful throughout the morning.  Thank you.”

“Thank you for helping me, as a parent, to see that it doesn’t have to be complicated to get the children involved in learning.”

The community say our school

“Though only grandparents and not parents, we were always welcomed at the school and that was appreciated.  We have many happy memories of our grandchildren’s attendance at St Gilbert’s and appreciate the efforts made by staff and pupils in achieving so much.”

“What a wonderful show Button Box was.  How you managed to get all those children on stage was amazing!  Congratulations to everyone who must have worked so hard to produce such a lovely play with such young children.  Also it was such an experience for them to be in an
